Buhl Sport detroit
A race team in Detroit…
Tom and Robbie Buhl had the idea of starting a race team, with its headquarters being in Downtown Detroit. Even with such a long, storied past in the automotive industry and motorsports, no race team has ever actually been based IN Detroit. That changed in 2015 when the brothers formed Buhl Sport Detroit and started searching for a race shop they could call home downtown.
Enter Corktown. After searching and touring countless buildings, the Buhls stumbled upon a 45,000 square foot old hosiery factory at the corner of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Michigan Avenue. Three years of demolition and renovation resulted in the stunning transformation of the building now known as The Factory at Corktown. Upon the completion of renovations, Tom and Robbie, along with their partner Britt Greene, sold the building to Ford Motor Company, a move that has jumpstarted a renaissance in Corktown, including Ford’s purchase of Michigan Central Station.
The “Powered by Buhl Sport” brands include Buhl Sport Detroit, Teen Street Skills, and Racing4Detroit.
